Sonia To Dedicate Krishnapatnam Port in Nellore on July 17.

  • Mrs Sonia Gandhi will dedicate the prestigious Krishnapatnam port.
  • Also on agenda includes laying foundation stone for Krishnapatnam super critical thermal power project in Nellore.
  • Krishnapatnam is deep water and all weather port developed on build-operate-share-transfer basis in public-private partnership mode between the government and the C.V.R. Group promoted by Navayuga Engineering Company. It is well equipped to handle both dry cargo (cement and steel) and liquid bulk cargo.  It will become India's largest port.

Nellore to get 2 More SEZs - Vakadu, Kota, Chillakur areas to benefit

  • South Eastern region of Nellore district will soon have two additional Special Economic Zones covering the mandals - Vakadu, Kota and Chillakuru.
  • The state government has started identifying the non-agricultural lands to the tune of 10,000 acres for establishing these centers.
  • Nellore already has many  SEZ's  at various levels of operation/conception: -
  • Sri City multi-product SEZ - Rs 18,000 crores.
  • Textile and apparel SEZ by MAS Holdings - Rs 880-crore,
  • Kisan SEZ being undertaken by Iffco - Rs 2,400-crore.
  • Steel project of SBQ Steels Ltd - Rs 1,100-crore
  • Industrial park and SEZ by the Caparo group - Rs 3,500-crore.
  • Apache footwear (for Adidas Shoes )SEZ  at TADA- Rs 500 crore and expanding.
  • SEZ by Bharatiya International Ltd - Rs650 crores.
  • Naidupet Industrial park for Taiwanese Original Equipment Manufacturer's(OEMs).
  • In combination with the excellent road network, rail network,  Krishnapatnam Port, proximity to Chennai Nellore SEZs are likely to make a significant impact on the manufacturing base of the country and have a major financial impact at local level.
